69th Annual Lord’s Acre Day – Now Thank We All Our God
The Archer United Methodist Church is celebrating its 69th Lord’s Acre Day on Saturday, Nov. 6. Everyone is welcome to attend! The theme is “Now Thank We All Our God.” Lord’s Acre Day has been an annual event. However, it was not held last year due to COVID-19 health concerns. The church is ready to greet friends in the community and surrounding area for this worthwhile event.
The day’s schedule is: 10 AM worship service led by Pastor Jacob Sandholm. Immediately following the service, 11 AM to 1 PM, a delicious lunch of creamed chicken sandwiches, taverns, baked beans, beverages, and a wide assortment of pies is served. Free will donations are accepted for the meal. The offering and donations are given to missions.
A variety of activities are available from 11 AM to 1 PM. The UMW (United Methodist Women) host a bazaar with home made crafts and food. Wesleyan Fellowship hosts a silent auction that ends at 1 PM sharp and the kids enjoy a fishing pond with a wide variety of prizes!
The parade begins at 1 PM. Typical entries are the color guard, antique vehicles, and community service vehicles. Kids enjoy collecting the candy that is tossed to them!
The day concludes with an action-packed auction! Rich Vander Werff runs a fun auction with donated items that often command ridiculously high bids. All proceeds go to the church and help fund the various causes and missions of the church.
Lord’s Acre Day was originally a day when area farmers would donate an acre’s worth of grain to the church. Lord’s Acre Day continues to be a cornerstone of Archer United Methodist Church’s annual fund raising. Families and friends gather for fun and fellowship. You are invited to join us in celebrating the rich blessings God has bestowed on us!
