Two-vehicle crash sends Sanborn woman to hospital
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 5:35 p.m. on Sunday, January 7.
According to the report a 2024 Chevy Trax, driven by Andrew Robert Sterk, age 29 of Sheldon, was eastbound on Highway 18, approximately 2-1/2 miles east of the interchange with Highway 60 and slowing down to make a right turn into his driveway. Also eastbound on Highway 18 was a 2008 Ford Taurus driven by Allyson Lynn Moser, age 30 of Sanborn. Moser was reading a text message on her phone and didn’t realize that the Sterk vehicle was slowing down to turn. Moser’s vehicle rear-ended the Chevy.
Moser was transported by Sheldon Ambulance to the Sheldon Hospital with possible injuries. Sterk was not injured in the collision. Estimated damages were $10,000 to the Chevy and $3,000 to Moser’s Ford.
Moser was cited for use of communication device.
