- Call to Order
The Board of Directors of the HMS Community School District met in a regular session at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School Media Center, on February 19, 2024 at 6:30 pm - Determine a Quorum
Members Present: Scott Vollink, Chad Lyman, Becky Stoltz, Kyle McCarter, Kari Van Es
Members Absent: None
Others Present: Patrick Carlin, Emily Widvey, Jeremy Niichel, Ashley Benz, Heidi Douma, Blake Wendt, and Mike Petersen - Adopt Agenda

6.1 Discuss Board Guiding Document – Discussion was had.
6.2 Discuss Instructional Support Levy – Discussion was had.
6.3 Discuss Budget Planning Calendar – Discussion was had. Board agreed upon March 25th at 6:30pm for initial budget hearing, and April 15th for second budget hearing.
6.4 Discuss Trane Service Agreement – Discussion was had.
6.5 Discuss Bus Purchase Options – Discussion was had.
6.6 Discuss Public Hearing 2024-2025 School Calendar – Discussion was had.
6.7 Closed Session – The HMS Board of Directors called for a motion to enter closed session to discuss strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the position of the governmental body in that litigation provided by Iowa Code Section 21.5(1) (c).

The board entered closed session at 6:57pm.
All members were present.

7.1 Approve Litigation Settlement: Kyle McCarter made a motion to approve council to finalize litigation settlement as negotiated by district council paid for by district carrier for case #LACV025330 in the Iowa District Court for O’Brien County.

7.5 Approve University Student Teacher Agreement(s) – Chad Lyman made a motion to approve all future requests for student teacher agreements.

7.6 Approve Bus Purchase Option – Chad Lyman made a motion to approve the purchase of 1 Bluebird bus with air conditioning and tabling additional purchases
