Earl T. Conaway Post No. 318 American Legion of Sanborn has received a Citation of the Most Distinguished Service for faithfulness in the performance of duties, for loyal cooperation and for membership achievement.
Diane Dorman and Pam McGranahan received outstanding performance awards for their presentations in the State Speech Contest held recently at Rockwell City.

A special meeting of the City Council was held April 5 to discuss the garbage hauling contract between Lawrence Tifft and the City of Sanborn…The council approved to extend the contract which expires April 1, until the landfill is in operation.
A large crane was being used to remove steel beams at the AMPI plant Wednesday a.m. The plant is expanding for converting to cheese processing.

The Bowl-Mor was proud to have been chosen to hold the State of Pin 10th Annual Trio Tournament. One hundred twenty-eight teams bowled at Bowl-Mor the 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th.
First National Bank announced that Nyla Fritz has assumed the branch manager position of the Sheldon office.

It was reported to the Pioneer that the hot air balloon das Chamaeleon, pilated by Kevin Lehmann of Eustis, NE landed in the Jr. Postma field near the MAPCO facility east of Sanborn.
The wind was gusting to around 60 miles per hour Monday. One of the victims was a large tree at the cemetery. Rain fell most of the day with the official measurement for Sanborn at 1.43 inches.
