Word was received of the death of Nedra Ruth Keedy, formerly Nedra Scheerhoorn, age 84 of Sanborn. She passed away on March 28, 2024, at Keelson Harbor Memory Care in Spirit Lake, IA. Cremation is under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake with burial in Roseland Cemetery of Sanborn. There will be no funeral. On March 2, 1940, Nedra was born to G. Herschel and Lillian E. (Templeman) Keedy in State Center, IA. Her family moved to Sanborn, IA in 1958 where Nedra graduated from Sanborn Community School with the class of 1958. After high school, she worked as a bank teller and a telephone operator.
Nedra was united in marriage to Jerry P. Scheerhoorn on January 14, 1963, in Sanborn. They raised four children on a farm near Sanborn. Nedra also was the owner/operator of the H&R Block in Sheldon, IA for 25+ years along with being a very hard-working farm wife,
Survivors include daughters Darcy Scheerhoorn and Lori Bootsma and sons Bruce Brown, Mark Scheerhoorn and Scot Scheerhoorn. Also surviving are brother Mark Keedy and Nedra’s eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Among those preceding Nedra in death were her parents; her husband; brother G. Curtis Keedy and sister Reta Jo (Keedy) Wade.
