Sanborn City Council special session
The Sanborn City Council met in special session Monday, April 8, in the Donald Kroese Council Chambers.
Mayor Randy Lyman called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with the following Council Members present: Jerry Back, Kevin Groendyke, Larry Reitsma, Brian Visser, and Aaron Wiekamp. Others present:
Jim Zeutenhorst, Adam Roelfs, Wendy Reed, Rob Hegenbarth, Larry and Fran Peelan, Chris Cammann, John and Donna Farrell, Savannah Henrich, and Joy Farence-Walker.
Motion Groendyke, seconded by Back to approve the agenda. Roll call was taken. Vote results: Ayes 5/Nays 0
The Mayor of the City of Sanborn announced that this was the time and place for public hearing City of Sanborn Proposed Tax Levy Rate Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2025. Mayor asked if there were any written or verbal comments, no written comments were received. Fran Peelan requested the floor to comment that this was a confusing change of policy. Zeutenhorst voiced that the state of Iowa passed legislature changing the Iowa City Budgeting process and agreed that it was a confusing situation. He read over the changes to the levy rate, the changes in valuation, and changes to tax dollars requested.
No further comments or questions were posed. Mayor called the public hearing closed at 5:05 p.m. Councilman Reitsma moved to approve the FY25 proposed tax levy rate as presented. Motion was seconded by Visser. Vote results: Ayes 5 /Nays 0.
There being no further business to come before the Council, Motion Groendyke, seconded by Visser to adjourn the special meeting at 5:05 p.m. Vote results: Ayes 5 /Nays 0
