NWS believes it was a tornado that caused damage in Sheldon

The National Weather Service has determined in its preliminary findings that it was a tornado which caused damage Friday night in the Crossroads area on the east end of Sheldon.
According to the report from the NWS Sioux Falls office a brief tornado touched down near the Crossroads Pavillion Event Center in Sheldon and tracked northwest, just shy of one mile, before dissipating to the north of the RiseFest Festival Grounds. The time of the event was 4:14 p.m. on June 1. The tornado peeled off roof panels on three different buildings and flipped multiple recreational vehicles . The tornado was rated an EF0 with maximum estimated winds of 85 mph and a width of 75 yards.
The damage was most evident at Southwest Wholesale RV.
“Thankfully no one was injured from this storm system,” said Jared Johnson, O’Brien County Emergency Management Director. “There were multiple agencies and contractors working on-site to help with the cleanup in different areas in Sheldon. We greatly appreciate all of the assistance.”
