Archer Council Processing Garbage Rate Increase
by Mari Radtke
The Archer Council met July 15 for a delayed regular council meeting. Council held a thorough discussion of the status of garbage accounts throughout town. Certain additional information is to be collected. Once received, a decision about which accounts to collect from property taxes will be made. Following the delinquent account discussion, council held its first reading to increase the garbage rates from $45 per quarter to $53 per quarter. The landfill increased its tonnage cost to the community, putting Archer below cost with its current pricing. A second reading of the ordinance is expected to be held at the next regular council meeting on August 13.
