An early Thanksgiving celebration was held at the Doon, IA Community Center on Sunday afternoon by the family of Ivan and Harriet Van Veldhuizen. There were 26 relatives and friends from Sioux Falls and Huron, SD, Hull, Doon, Spirit Lake, Okoboji, and Sanborn, IA. Included from Sanborn were Harriet Van Veldhuizen, John, Donna and Kim Farrell, and Ryan and Nancy Van Dyke. The Dessert Time featured a contest of 10 homemade pies.
On Thursday, Nov. 21 Margaret Larson of Worthington, MN and Carol Salazar visited their brother, Randy Brounko for his birthday at Prairie View. They took him lunch from Jay’s Restaurant, ice cream, cake and gifts. They had a neat visit and he was happy and enjoyed the day. He appreciated all the birthday wishes he received on Facebook.
Linda Rozeboom’s niece Laurie Siemonsma of Archer picked Linda up Sunday morning and they enjoyed breakfast at Jay’s Restaurant, celebrating Laurie’s birthday.
Last week Monday Shelli Niichel, Darla Strait, Connie Knowlton, Pam Dummett, and Sherryl Tressler met at Rails. It was a send-off for Darla as she gets ready for wintering in Texas. The ladies are all 1975 classmates of Sanborn High School.
Last Friday family and friends gathered in Sioux Falls for the wedding of Joanne Andersen’s grandson, Brady and Beka. Brady’s parents are Athena and Wade Kellenberger. Courtney and Rhett from Denver, CO. and Brooklyn and Gavin from Sioux Falls, SD were parts of the event. Joanne was also present for the love-filled day.
Steve and Anita Goetz of Fairbanks, AK arrived Saturday to spend time in the parental Charlotte Dasen home. They had attended a Mayo retirement party at Rochester in honor her sister, Catherine Gray on Friday evening. Cass has retired after working for 34 and one-half years in the lab at Mayo, the last few years in the Center for Regenerative Biotherapeutics.
