A collision between two large trucks north of Sanborn sent an Ocheyedan man to the hospital.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that the crash occurred around 1:15 a.m. on Friday, December 27 in the 2800 mile of Roosevelt Avenue (Highway 59) approximately four miles north of Sanborn.
According to the report, a 2020 Freightliner box truck driven by Marcus Jones, age 34 of Bellevue, NE, was southbound on Highway 59 when it crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2022 Peterbilt semi driven by Lee Brownmiller, age 31 of Ocheyedan. Jones stated that his steering wheel had locked up.
Brownmiller was transported by was transported to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team with what were described as minor injuries. Jones also reported minor injuries.
Damage to the Brownmiller semi was estimated at $120,000. The Jones Freightliner suffered an estimated at $60,000 in damages.
Jones was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
