Okoboji/HMS boys lose two of three at Woodbury Central quad

The Okoboji/HMS boys returned to the mat for a quadrangular January 7 at Moville. The Pioneers went 1-2 on the day with the win coming over South Central Calhoun by the score of 52-29. Okoboji/HMS lost 41-33 to Alta-Aurelia and 47-28 to host Woodbury Central.
HMS wrestlers taking part were Nathan Stofferan at 113 pounds and Riley Mattingly at 215. Stofferan picked up the lone win, pinning South Central Calhoun’s Kase Kraft in 1:39. The junior lost by fall to Alta/Aurelia’s Eli Rieb in 1:49 and by a 21-5 technical fall to the Wildcats’ Nathan Benedix in 5:05.
Mattingly also suffered a technical fall loss in the Woodbury Central dual with Carter Wright winning 20-4 in 1:50. The freshman was pinned by Alta/Aurelia’s Angel Barajas in 39 seconds and lost by fall to the Titans’ Maximus Hardy in 47 seconds.
