Okoboji/HMS pockets another two wins at home triangular


Okoboji/HMS ran its record to 11-4 in duals as it hosted a wrestling triangular January 16 at Milford. The Pioneers picked up two more wins, topping Sheldon/South O’Brien 52-24 and Sibley-Ocheyedan 51-28.
A highlight for the home team was Tyce Hanson notching his 100th win with an 18-10 major decision over Sheldon/South O’Brien’s Josh Hoffmann.
HMS athletes wrestling in the quad were Nathan Stofferan at 113 pounds, Mykle Meyers at 165 and Riley Mattingly at 215. Stofferan won twice, scoring a 17-2 technical fall victory over the Orabs’ Alexis Ocampo in 1:51 and getting a win by forfeit in the dual with Sibley-Ocheyedan. Meyers lost by fall to Sheldon/South O’Brien’s Mitchel Fischer in 152 and to the Generals’ Easton Beyer in 1:34. Matingly was also the victim of two pins, executed by the Orabs’ Landon Sietstra in 1:24 and Sibley-Ocheyedan’s Kyler Elser in 1:33.
Emilio Martinez from HMS won a JV match over Dominic Blanco, pinning the Sibley-Ocheyedan grappler in 1:11.
