SANBORN CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS AND SPECIAL SESSIONS

The Sanborn City Council met in special session Monday, March 24, in the Donald Kroese Council Chambers. Mayor Randy Lyman called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with the following Council Members present: Jerry Back, Kevin Groendyke, Larry Reitsma, Brian Visser, and Aaron Wiekamp. Others present: Wendy Reed, Adam Roelfs, Dan Verrips, and Jim Zeutenhorst.
Motion Back, seconded by Reitsma, to approve the agenda. Roll call was taken. Roll call: Ayes 5 /Nays 0
Mayor declared the Public Hearing for the Proposed FY26 Levy Rate open at 5:01 pm. The increased levy rate is due in part to increased property and liability insurance costs, as well as payroll benefits and tax liabilities. No changes to the proposed rate. No oral or written comments heard/received. Mayor closed the public hearing at 5:08 pm. Motion made by Groendyke, seconded by Visser, to approve the FY26 Property Tax Levy Rate. Vote results: Ayes 5/Nays 0
There being no further business to come before the Council, Motion Back, seconded by Wiekamp to adjourn at 5:09 p.m. Roll call was taken. Vote results: Ayes 5 /Nays 0. The next regularly scheduled meeting will take place on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 5:00p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Motion made by Groendyke, seconded by Wiekamp to set a public hearing for the Kids Express CDBG Grant Sponsorship. Motion seconded by Wiekamp. Vote results: Ayes 5/Nays 0
Motion made by Wiekamp, seconded by Visser, approving Resolution #2025-05 Providing Economic Development Assistance through the Sanborn Daycare Association. Vote results: Ayes 5/Nays 0
Motion made by Back, seconded by Reitsma, to approve the Sanborn Golf & Country Club Liquor License application. Vote results: Ayes 5/ Nays 0
New business discussed: EPA ruling with AMPI and the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Cemetery mowing, the former Catholic Church building, nuisance properties in town, confidentiality, open records, and timeclocks.
There being no further business to come before the Council, Motion Back, seconded by Wiekamp to adjourn at 6:43 p.m. Roll call was taken. Vote results: Ayes 5 /Nays 0. The next regularly scheduled meeting will take place on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 5:00p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Mayor Randy Lyman called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with the following Council Members present: Jerry Back, Kevin Groendyke, Larry Reitsma, Brian Visser, and Aaron Wiekamp. Others present: Bob Anema, Brady Bootsma, Brian Elgersma, Doug Elgersma, Kevin Koerselman, Glenda Krikke, Wendy Reed, Adam Roelfs, Kari VanBeek, Dan Verrips, and Jim Zeutenhorst.
Motion made by Groendyke, seconded by Back, to approve the agenda. Vote results: Ayes 5/Nays 0
Doug Elgersma spoke on behalf of the SGCC Golf Board, describing plans to have a limited menu and restaurant options. Council responded with comments and questions. Liquor license is still pending proof of insurance, food service establishment application is pending ServeSafe Certification.

Mayor Randy Lyman called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with the following Council Members present: Jerry Back, Kevin Groendyke, Larry Reitsma, Brian Visser, and Aaron Wiekamp. Others present: Jim Zeutenhorst, Adam Roelfs.
Motion by Groendyke, seconded by Visser to approve the agenda. Roll call was taken. Vote results: Ayes 5 /Nays 0
Visitors, none present.
Mayor Lyman announced it was the time and place for a public hearing on the Sale of Real Estate Owned by the City of Sanborn. There being no one present with comments Mayor Lyman asked if any written comments had been filed with the City Clerk, there being none, the Mayor announced the closing of the hearing.
Motion Wiekamp, seconded by Baack to introduce Resolution 2025-11 Directing the Sale of City’s interest in Real Property. Vote results Ayes 5/Nays 0.
Motion Groendyke, seconded by Reitsma to set May 12th at 5:00p.m. as the time and place for a public hearing on the 2024-2025 budget amendment. Ayes 5/Nays 0.
There was a short discussion on a developer applying for State tax credits and the possibility of buying City Owned property for the project. Other business mentioned: housing incentives for new construction. No action taken.
There being no further business to come before the Council, Motion Baack, seconded by Groendyke to adjourn the special meeting at 5:23 p.m. Vote results: Ayes 5 /Nays 0
