Both the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn baseball and softball teams will soon begin tournament play.
The baseball team plays a Class 1A District 2 opening round game Saturday, July 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Akron. The opponent will be the host Akron-Westfield Westerners. The winner advances to a District semifinal Tuesday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. at a site to be determined. The opponent in that game will be the winner of Saturday’s opening contest at Akron between Gehlen Catholic and South O’Brien.
The Hawk softball team opens Class 2A Region 3 tourney play at home against Sibley-Ocheyedan. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7 at Hartley. The winner of that game will take on West Lyon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9 at Inwood.
