Word was received of the death of Vera Osland, age 94, of Aplington. She died on July 2 at Unity Point Health – Allen Hospital in Waterloo, of natural causes. Vera’s husband Gerald Osland, who preceded her in death in 2009, served as pastor of First Reformed Church in Sanborn from 1972 to 1992. Vera served as the Library and Media Director at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon for 22 years before retiring in 1996.
Vera is survived by three children, Timothy Osland of Aplington, Lynae (Mitch Mason) Gregorian of Chicago, IL, and David (Annamarie) Osland of Pocatello, ID; four grandchildren; one sister; brother and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held July 8 at the First Reformed Church in Aplington, with burial in the Bethel Reformed Cemetery in rural Aplington. Redman Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
