Last week Monday Carol Salazar, Cindy McParland, her sister Jenny from California, Nancy Nagel, Joyce Tewes, Mary Waltz, and Elaine Dagel met at Jay’s Restaurant to enjoy a visit with Anita (Dasen) Goetz and daughter Amy Ingram, both of Fairbanks, AK and Jess Horstman of Keystone Heights, FL, They came especially to enjoy Railroad Days and visit Charlotte Dasen. All enjoyed a great visit and breakfast.
Ryker Eliker of Lincoln NE came Sunday to spend a few days in Sanborn with his grandparents, Randy and Candice Lyman before school starts.
Steve and Anita Goetz of Fairbanks, AK left last week Thursday to visit their daughter, Sarah Goetz at Portland, OR. Anita returned to Sanborn Tuesday for a longer visit.
Jess Horstman of Keystone Heights, FL left last week Thursday after visiting in Sanborn over Railroad Days.
Visitors in the Lorn Wills home were Dave and Stacy Bonello of Ames, Krista Robinson of Hospers and Kiley Park of Ashton.
Jim and Becky Suckow visited their daughter, Amy Suckow of Eden Prairie, MN from Sunday, July 28 to Saturday, Aug.3.
Kent and Glenda Miller were joined by their children: TJ, Kayla, Camden, Maurice and Brian Miller, and Lindsey Miller and Ashlyn on a family vacation to Stevensville, MI to meet up with Kent’s brother, Kevin Miller, Karma (Kent’s sister), and Ronnie Reed, Garrett Reed, Rylie and Jhenna Reed and their children: Luxx, Kindrix, Malox, and Daxx Reed at a BRUNO rental. The guys chartered a couple of fishing boats and caught salmon and lake trout. All enjoyed a boardwalk down to Lake Michigan and a backyard pool and hot tub.
A Bridal Shower was held in Sioux Falls, SD Saturday morning for Katie McKee, daughter of Diane and Chad McKee. Attending from Sanborn were her grandmother, Harriet Van Veldhuizen, her cousin, Kim Farrell, and her aunts Donna Farrell and Nancy Van Dyke. She will marry Tate Leslie of Sioux Falls in October.
Over the rivers and by the lakes to Alexandria, MN we go. We hope and we pray the car finds the way without a four-lane road, may have been some thoughts as Joanne Andersen drove north last Thursday. She joined Athena, Wade and Gavin of Sioux Falls, Isabella of Isanti and Rowan of Iowa City at a peaceful lake cabin for water play weekend. Kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, fishing and boating were enjoyed. On shore yard games, card games and campfire skills were developed. Friday and Saturday April and Ryan from Iowa City and Peter and Omuma from Isanti found the lake and joined in the vacation weekend activities.
Railroad Days visitors in the Lorn Wills home were Vickie and Ben Quinones of Pleasant Hill, Kim and Ryker Eliker of Lincoln, NE, Morgan and Jayden Lyman of Harrisburg, SD and Wade Wills and Chance Williams of Hawarden.
Lindy Buren attended the wedding of her grandson, Cayle Carney of Spirit Lake and Cassidy from Rock Valley on August 3 at Calico Skies winery venue at Inwood. Parents of the groom are Josh and Caresa Carney. Also attending were Krista Ewoldt and fiance James Childress and granddaughter Nesari of Jefferson, GA. They also visited James Carney at Sibley. Krista was here the week prior to the wedding and enjoyed family visits and went for a run every morning around Sanborn. Everyone had a great time.
Larry and Fran Peelen had visitors from Ottawa, KS on July 31: Russ and Sandy Sylvester and Gary and Karen Walburn. They came to view items that Larry had purchased on the Sylvester Estate Auction, especially a truck. John and Ruth Vander Haag join them for lunch and visiting.
