New teachers join the staff at Sanborn Christian School

Sanborn Christian School welcomes three new teachers to its staff for the 2024-25 school year.
One of the three is new this year but not new to the building or the community. Jill Vander Werff previously taught for four years at Sanborn Christian as a 3rd grade teacher until she decided to take the opportunity to stay home to raise her daughters. Over the last 15 years she has taught a variety of grades. She is now back at Sanborn Christian as a 5th grade teacher. Jill is originally from Inwood but has been living in Sanborn ever since she graduated from Dordt College 15 years ago. She is married to Brent Vander Werff and has four daughters: Sydney (7th grade), Gabriella (5th grade), Summer (2nd grade) and Gracie (3 years old).
Olivia Granstra joins Sanborn Christian as the 2nd grade homeroom teacher. She graduated this past spring from Northwestern College in Orange City. She did her student teaching in the MOC-FV and Rock Valley school districts. Olivia is a graduate of Sheldon Christian and she also graduated from Western Christian High School in 2020.
Halle Van Beek will be teaching classes to the 5th-8th grade students at Sanborn Christian. She graduated in the spring from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. Halle completed her student teaching in Sanborn Christian’s 6th grade classroom this winter and finished her second half student teaching assignment at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn. Halle is a 2015 graduate of Sanborn Christian and went on to graduate from Western Christian High School. Halle was joined in marriage to Dylan Van Beek this past March.
