Okoboji/HMS is a winner times three at home quad
Okoboji/HMS raised its duals record to 7-3 with three wins in a wrestling quadrangular hosted by the Pioneers January 9 at Milford. The host team defeated Pocahontas Area 70-11 and East Sac County 70-6. The third dual was much closer with the Pioneers coming out on top 44-32 over Manson Northwest Webster.
HMS grappler Nathan Stofferan wrestled in the 113-pound weight class in all three duals. He won by technical fall over Pocahontas Area’s Brody Wallace in 2:39, posting a score of 16-0. The junior won a 14-6 major decision over Manson NW Webster’s Kale Kraft and was awarded a win by forfeit in the dual with the Raiders.
HMS freshman Riley Mattingly wrestled in the final dual against the Cougars. The 215-pounder won by fall over Jaggar Wolfe in 3:15.
A pair of Hawk wrestlers were successful in JV matches versus Manson NW Webster. Easton Teal pinned the Cougars’ Ben Nelson in 2:23 and Mykle Meyers won a 9-1 major decision over Logan Thoma.
