Upper level remodel provides some needed space at ReBorn Treasures

ReBorn Treasures has taken it to another level. During last month’s Railroad Days celebration, owner Mary O’Brien invited all to come in and see the new ReBorn Treasures upper level showroom. “I waited a bit for an opening because of COVID,” noted O’Brien. “Railroad Days seemed like the perfect time for everyone to come in and check it out. Thank you for the wonderful support!”
At the end of the last year, it became evident that ReBorn Treasures was going to need more space. “We had bought the upper level and were using it for storage, and decided it could be put to a more profitable use,” said O’Brien. She is referring to the upper level of the former Odd Fellows Hall which was built in 1925. The building is to the north of ReBorn Treasures’ main storefront.
“We started re-construction of The Odd Fellows Hall in late January,” O’Brien said. “It wasn’t as extensive as the lower level, but getting the support beams in was the biggest and hardest task. After that, the cement walls needed some attention, a divider wall went up, support columns, new ceiling and lighting, and finally flooring. Brad and Scott (Horstman) did another amazing redo of an old building. It all came together so well.”
Several large barn doors were incorporated to finish off the decor. “I didn’t realize what a difference that extra space would make, but it didn’t take long, and it was full too,” revealed O’Brien.
A garage door was added in the back side of the upper level. It opens up to reveal a newly-constructed loading dock which is the same height as the O’Briens’ pickup bed and also the same height as the floor in the upper level. “It makes it so much easier to load and unload large pieces,” remarked O’Brien.
Many of the items on display have simply been refinished to update their look. A few of the items lend themselves to being repurposed under the keen eye of the owner. “Some pieces I will eliminate doors and add baskets…or make an old TV cupboard into a bar or mini closet,” explained O’Brien.
Whether refinished or repurposed, the beautiful items O’Brien has for sale call for a closer inspection. So stop by and hunt for the treasures to be found on both levels.
