Van Gogh in the Garden Event
On Tuesday, September 7th the ISU Extension and Outreach has partnered with Iowa Master Gardeners to hosted a Van Gogh in the Garden at the Sanborn Community Garden. Where artist channelled their inner Van Gogh painting flowers and objects from the garden.
Local artist Lissa Lane-Johnson from Blue Monkey in Archer joined the evening of painting. She helped provide guidance to painters during the event. The event was a fun, expressive and relaxing evening for all that participated. The event was open to all ages. Painters were welcome to use supplies that were provided or they could bring their own supplies if they wished.
Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch post-impressionist painter who posthumously became one of the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In a decade, he created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings. They included landscapes, still lifes, portraits and self-portraits, and are characterised by bold colours and dramatic, impulsive and expressive brushwork that contributed to the foundations of modern art.
