Chamber Chat
Oh la everyone! This is Wendy Nelson still filling in for the monthly chamber chat. Hard to believe we are already into September and all the fall activities that come with the season, but times flies when your having fun.
Looking ahead we have a couple of activities going on in town in the next couple of months I’d love to share with you.
The first event I’d like to share is the upcoming blood drive on Thursday September 30th. The area Red Cross will be holding a blood drive clinic at the Sanborn Community Center from 1pm-7pm. The current demand for blood is high and all types are needed, particularly the “O+” and “O-“ as they are universal donors. If you are able and willing to help others in need, please go to redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment or call Deb Mosier at 348-2484. Current COVID practices require a mask to be worn when you donate, so don’t forget to bring one along.
The next event I would like to mention is the annual Fall Festival. Scheduled for Saturday October 30th from 10am-2pm at VanderHaag’s Yesterday’s Museum the event is always a crowd favorite and a husband’s nightmare; well at least mine. Not 100% how many years the chamber has been holding this event, but it is an excellent way to sell homemade crafts, sell your independent consultant business or even promote your business. We also have confirmed that the Mi’Ono ladies will be serving their delicious homemade goodness during the entire event as well. At this point in time, we are seeking vendors to display their items at the show. The cost of a table is only $15, and it allows you a great opportunity to make sales. If you are interested in renting a table, please e-mail the chamber at sanbornchamber@gmail.com. There is a limited number of tables available due to spacing limits, so if you can reach out sooner than later, that would be a good idea.
Before I sign off for the month, I would like to spotlight our newest business to Sanborn, Iowa Armory LLC. Iowa Armory is owed and operated by Chris Mazur and is perfectly located in the old T-Berry’s restaurant building on the corner of highway 18 & N. Eastern Street. Chris and his family moved to Sanborn about a year ago coming all the way from Bozeman, MT. Chris is an avid hunter who prefers rifles and hunting deer, elk and antelope. His years serving our country in the Army have allowed him to live in any places, but his father is what brought him to Sanborn. Iowa Armory is open Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm and closed on Sundays. A future ribbon cutting/open house will be set for a later date, but in the meantime the store is open and ready for sales. You can also visit them online at www.iowaarmory.com. Welcome to Sanborn Chris and we wish you the very best!!
Have a great week everyone and remember to shop local!
Wendy Nelson
