Twelve Hawks capture spots on All-District football teams
A total of 12 Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Hawks received recognition as the 2021 Class A District 1 All-District Football Teams were released. In addition, the Hawks’ Jay Eilers was honored as the all-district head coach and Steve Waechter was tabbed as the all-district assistant defensive coach. HMS players on the all-district first team were Kooper Ebel, Connor Dodd, Travis Kamradt, Lance Berends, Nick Bronstad, Jesse Garcia, Keevyn Jacobsma and Mason Brinkman. Second team selections for the Hawks were Ryan Borden and James Gellerman. Receiving honorable mention were Wyatt Borden and Jordan Ortega. Special honors went to Ebel as Offensive MVP, to Kamradt as Defensive MVP and to Berends as the top lineman. Dodd, Bronstad, Garcia, Brinkman, Wyatt Borden and Ortega are seniors. Ebel, Kamradt, Berends, Jacobsma and Ryan Borden are juniors while Gellerman is a freshman. HMS went undefeated in the District with a 6-0 record.
