Okoboji/HMS opens with a split in double dual

Okoboji/HMS opened the wrestling season December 2 with a trip to Graettinger for a double dual. The team went 1-1 with a 42-31 loss to Spencer and a 54-24 win over Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire.
Heavyweight Nick Bronstad won his two matches by fall. He pinned Spencer’s Andrew Hough in 3:19 and took only 51 seconds to finish the job against GTRA’s Tanner Murray. James Gellerman, wrestling at 182 pounds, also went 2-0 on the evening. He captured a 4-3 decision over Kael Brandt of Spencer and won by fall in 49 seconds against the Titans’ Treyton Kleve.
At 145 pounds Jonathan Ortiz was pinned by Spencer’s Jackson Schultz in 1:04. Against GTRA’s Aaron Wilson he got the upper hand in the pin process, winning by fall 2:12. Ethan Wiersma also experienced the good and the bad when it came to pins. The 195-pounder earned a victory by fall over his Tiger counterpart Caden Brosam in 2:10, but was himself pinned by Nolan Darr of GTRA in 1:52. Jack Mastbergen won by forfeit at 132 pounds.
In JV matches with Spencer, Bryce Dodge won a 14-6 major decision over Jace Fullhart and Levi VanBeek lost by fall to Braxton Nachigal in 1:35.
