Lee Obermoller is the new owner of Jay’s Restaurant and Lounge located on Highway 18 in Sanborn. Jay’s has been a family run business and a Sanborn icon for over seven decades. Mr. Obermoller, who has spent the past ten years working at Jay’s and learning the different aspects of the business, brings a total of nineteen years of restaurant experience to his newly acquired business. Lee plans to keep changes at a minimum and intends to continue to provide great food with a unique dining experience to his customers. Sanborn Electric and Telecommunications Utility is pleased to be a partner in this business acquisition through a Sanborn USDA REDLG Loan.
In April of 1946 Marion “Jay” Jaycox purchased the Standard Cafe adjacent to the Standard Oil Filling Station. In 1986 Jay sold the business to son Terry and wife Deb Jaycox. Through the name change, improvements and expansion it has remained a destination for those seeking good food or just a little coffee (or other beverage) and some good conversation.
Sanborn Electric and Telecommunications Utility, in conjunction with their Revolving Loan Fund Committee, has approved financing for this business purchase. The Revolving Loan Fund is used to attract, retain or expand Business and Industry. Revolving loan funds may be used for the following: Land purchases, Building purchases, Building Construction, Machinery purchases, Equipment purchases and any other uses deemed appropriate by the RLF Committee.
