Clay County Heritage “Lunch & Learn”
Clay County Heritage is excited to announce a program series called “Lunch & Learn” that will be held at 12:00PM on the last Wednesday of every month in the Bob Keir Meeting Room at the Clay County Heritage Center in Spencer, Iowa. Participants are invited to bring their own lunch to the museum to learn about a variety of historical topics utilizing object-centered learning that will showcase items from our collection. These events are free to the public and we ask that participants RSVP as space will be limited. Donations can be made at the door to help pay for programming materials.
Object-centered learning (or object-based learning) is a popular form of active learning utilized by museums across the county that allows learners to engage with artifacts first-hand. Clay County Heritage’s goal is to highlight lesser-known objects in our collection to inspire curiosity in all types of learners that leads to a more memorable learning experience at our Lunch & Learn programs.
The first three Lunch & Learn program will be held on the following dates and cover the following topics. Our
• January 26 – Iowa Statehood
• February 23 – Boy Scouts of America
• March 30 – Irish in Iowa
