Sally Ann Knowlton was born in Canton, South Dakota on July 14, 1929, to Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Oster) and Selmer Anderson.
After graduating from Canton High School in 1947, she was united in marriage to Don Knowlton at Le Mars, Iowa on March 1, 1948. They lived their married life in Sanborn where they jointly operated the O.K. Rec & Lounge for 30 years.
Sally loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends. She loved playing cards with her friends. She was always baking and cleaning and making sure everyone was taken care of.
Sally passed away on January 25, 2022 at her son’s residence in Crescent, Iowa at the age of 92.
Sally is survived by her two sons, Ed (Tami) of Crescent, Iowa, and Bobby (Connie) of Primghar, Iowa; one sister, Sharon (Lloyd) Jongerius of Coloma, Wisconsin. Grandchildren, Jessica (Rob) Beltran of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jamie Knowlton of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Austin (Alexa) Knowlton of Council Bluffs, Kyle Knowlton (fiancé, Megan Tripp) of Crescent, Iowa; great grandchildren, Jordan, Connor, Dylyn and Jack; great-great grandchild, Jade. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don, sisters, Norma “Sis”, Deloras Anderson, Marlys Amundson, and brothers, Mel, Elmer, Merle and Terry.
Funeral services were held January 28 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sanborn with Pastor Joseph Bangert officiating.
Casket Bearers were Kyle Knowlton, Austin Knowlton, Bob Hatting, Keith Rohrs, David Amundson and Joel Gibbons.
Honorary Casket Bearers were Rod Douma, Steve Buren, Cliff Pry and Shane Smith.
Congregational hymns were Precious Lord, Take My Hand and Rock of Ages, Cleft For Me. The organist was Steve Berntson.
Burial was at Roseland Cemetery of Sanborn.
Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
