Donations spur City of Sanborn to offer up to $4,000 sign-on bonus for new EMT’s for Sanborn Ambulance

The Citizens of Sanborn have a unique opportunity to be of great service to the community.
Help is needed on the Sanborn Ambulance Team. SAM is in search of EMT’s (Emergency Medical Technicians) and EMR’s (drivers/first responders). Due to SAM’s shortage of these types of personnel, the Sanborn Ambulance is currently only able to staff the ambulance from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and is getting assistance from the Sheldon Ambulance team to keep an Ambulance available to the Sanborn community 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This adds 15-20 minutes to the after-hours response time to ambulance calls in Sanborn and puts additional stress on the Sheldon Ambulance team.
A new opportunity for members who join SAM to receive a monetary bonus grew out of the generosity of two Sanborn entities. The Presbyterian Church family members have come forward with a donation of $9,000 and the Sanborn Housing board has joined in with an $11,000 donation. The Sanborn City Council approved an incentive program at its last meeting and approved $10,000 dollars from the Local Option sales tax fund to go towards the incentive program.
The City is thankful for the donations received so far. Anyone who may be considering a donation to help build the best Ambulance team in northwest Iowa is asked to please call City Hall at 930-3842.
The City of Sanborn will be offering up to a $4,000 dollar incentive to join the Sanborn Ambulance Service. Along with the sign-on bonus, members of the Ambulance team get paid per call taken, get paid to attend monthly meetings and receive additional pay to be on call during the weekends. The incentives are different based on EMR’s versus EMT’s.
To learn more and become a part of the team, please call City Hall.
