This fallen tree limb along Highway 18 was one of Sanborn’s more visible results of the windstorm that moved through the area in the late afternoon of May 12. The winds were gusting up to 70 miles per hour and a gust of over 90 miles per hour was reported in Lyon County. A large dust cloud could be seen on the leading edge of the thunderstorm and some areas reported blackout conditions due to the dust.
