NCC awards scholarships
Northwest Iowa Community College has awarded a number of scholarships. Among them are:
Accounting Scholarship
The purpose of the Accounting Scholarship is to encourage individuals to pursue a career in Accounting by enrolling in the program offered at Northwest Iowa Community College. This is a $500 scholarship. Josie Postma, Rock Valley, and Mariel Feekes, Archer, are this year’s recipients of the Accounting Scholarship.
Alpha Evenson Memorial Nursing Scholarship awarded by The Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation
The Alpha Evenson Memorial Nursing Scholarship is awarded to students pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing at Northwest Iowa Community College. Students must have first successfully completed the Practical Nursing program and display future potential in the nursing profession. This year’s recipients of the Alpha Evenson Memorial Nursing Scholarship are:
• Jennifer Horstman, Paullina
• Elsie Nyanjui, Sheldon
• Marlene Reyes Martinez, Sanborn
This scholarship is in memory of the late Alpha Evenson. Throughout her life, Alpha strongly supported the healthcare field. In her will, Alpha set aside monies for a scholarship fund for worthy nursing students at Northwest Iowa Community College. This is a $2,500 scholarship.
Emma R. & Oscar Miller Scholarships awarded by The Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation
The Emma R. & Oscar Miller Scholarship is awarded to students pursuing a career in the healthcare field at Northwest Iowa Community College. This scholarship varies from $500 to $1,000 and is sponsored each year by Hegg Health Center, Rock Valley. This year’s recipients of the Emma R. & Oscar Miller Scholarships are:
• Kally Modder, George, Practical Nursing student
• Daniel Nyanchoga, Sanborn, Practical Nursing student
• Innocent Ongaga, Sanborn, Associate Degree Nursing student
• Holli Warburton, Rock Valley, Radiologic Technology student
• Sherylyn Wynia, Boyden, Associate Degree Nursing student
