Hinton puts away Hawks in three
Hinton improved to 18-0 on the season with a 3-0 victory over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn September 29 at Hinton. The scores were 25-11, 25-13 and 25-6 for the Blackhawks, Class 2A’s number eight rated team. With the loss, HMS fell to 7-11 on the season, including 2-5 in the War Eagle Conference.
“We faced the two top teams in the conference this week,” commented Hawk head coach Cheryl Kroese. “As a team you look at what you can do to improve after those types of matches. We know moving forward we need to continue to work on our quickness in responding to the other team’s offense. These girls will continue to work hard each night and look forward to our HLP match this coming week (October 4) and our tournament at HLP next weekend. (October 8).”
Abby Kunzman recorded five kills and Abby Douma four. Frankie Mohni accounted for all but one of the team’s 13 set assists. The Hawks were able to come up with 22 digs, led by the six from Abigail Otto. Elise Haack, Eliza Tewes, Kylee Schiphoff and Douma each assisted on a block.
