The Sanborn Fire Department was called to the John Zevenbergen farm Wednesday afternoon of last week to extinguish a tractor fire…the battery had worn on the gas tank and it ignited.

The Sanborn Pioneer is observing the 101st birthday of the newspaper this week. The publisher, editor and staff would like everyone in the area to be our guest Sat., December 9. Coffee and cookies will be served. Each guest will receive a free souvenir copy of The Sanborn Pioneer Pages from the Past and may register for door prizes.

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn will hold its Annual Alumni Game on Fri., December 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the high school gym…the event is sponsored by the HMS Athletic Booster Club.
The Festival of Trees and other events sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce drew visitors and shoppers to the Sanborn Community Center Saturday.
Horse-drawn rides were part of the activities in Sanborn Saturday. Jim Vollink was the driver. The horses and rig are owned by Dale Lux, Hartley.
