Keaton Heemskerk joins Sanborn Police Department

There are some new faces on the Sanborn Police Department roster. One of them belongs to Officer Keaton Heemskerk. His hometown is Sheldon and he also resided in Alton before coming to Sanborn.
Heemskerk attended Sheldon Christian School and then Western Christian high school at Hull. He earned an associates degree in Police Science at Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City.
Keaton’s association with members of the law enforcement community have had a positive influence on him. He explains, “I became good friends with cops at my church as well as the resource officer at Western Christian and I decided I wanted to be like them.”
Keaton is the son of Wade and Kim. The family also includes his older sister, Kailey, and two younger brothers, Kyler and Kolby. The new officer worked for his dad at Heemskerk Construction but ultimately answered the call of police work. “I always knew serving was going to be in my future,” said Keaton, “but I didn’t know how I was going to do it.”
Heemskerk has these words for the citizens of Sanborn, “I am grateful that I got the opportunity to work for the City of Sanborn and I look forward to meeting and getting to know the community.”
