A pair of winning relays helped Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn to score 72 points and finish fifth at the OABCIG Boys Invite held April 18 at Ida Grove. Finishing first were the 4×200 meter relay and the sprint medley relay. Manning both of those relays were Ryan Borden, Ethan Diehm, James Gellerman and Kooper Ebel.
As a team the Hawks came in just behind East Sac County and their 73 points. Claiming the team title were the host Falcons of OABCIG with 129 points. Ridge View was second with 115.
Nabbing runner-up spots were Adam Schierholz in the discus and Bryce Dodge in the 1600 meters. Also placing second were the 4×100 relay, again with Borden, Diehm, Gellerman and Ebel, and the distance medley with Borden and Diehm being joined by Bradley Zamudio and Bryce Dodge.
Jacob Cates finished fourth in the shot put as did Gellerman in the 100 meters and Zamudio in the 400 meter hurdles. An additional fourth-place finish went to the 4×800 group of Bryce Dodge, Damian Dodge, Carter Dolphin and David Wetrich.
