Tour of AMPI plant highlights shared interests and concerns

That agriculture, government and economic development are all intertwined was further confirmed as Associated Milk Producers, Inc. (AMPI) hosted a tour of their Sanborn plant on May 2. Taking the tour were U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra, Sanborn City Administrator Jim Zeutenhorst and Kiana Johnson, Executive Director, O’Brien County Development Corporation.
“I’m so impressed with what’s happening here at AMPI and all the workers that come from around the area,” said Feenstra. “We are the breadbasket to the world and this is where it all starts. From the producers to the manufacturers of the cheese, it all goes together. From economic development in O’Brien County to the City of Sanborn, it’s all working collaboratively.”
Joining the tour from AMPI were Sanborn Division Manager Steve Voss and Operations Manager Raymond Little along with dairy farmer/owners Brad Korver and Johnny Westra.
When asked if the group shared any concern with him, Feenstra responded, “Absolutely. We always have concerns. Work force being a concern. Supply chain being a concern. Milk prices are always a concern. There’s a lot of things that make all the organizations successful. Me sitting on the Agricultural Committee and working on the Farm Bill, I can take that back to congress and see what I can do to help.”
