HMS Middle School students see their work published

A dozen students at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Middle School have received the honor of their poetry, writing and artwork being published.
Mrs. Mayer, the 5th and 6th grade language arts teacher at HMS, submitted student work last fall to the Northwest Area Education Agency (NWAEA). Every year, the NWAEA considers original poetry, short stories, and artwork for publication in a compilation they call Harvest. The Northwest AEA receives a large amount of submissions each year, as it includes 10 counties in Northwest Iowa with almost 70 schools.
HMS is proud to say that the Harvest magazine features seventeen poems or drawings from twelve HMS students whose work was chosen for this honor. Students with poems published are Wyatt Brigham, Alessandra Cibrian, Righardt DeWinnaar, Kaylee Neumann, Aubreyana Stallman, Jaxsen Rieck, and Emma Vander Berg. Delilah Boynton and Kate Rodriguez had two poems selected each. A photograph of a cow sculpture by Cole Magee was included, as well as three drawings by Derrica Van Loon, and two drawings by Kenadie Van Loon.
