Wheel of Misfortune
The Douma family harvest operation experienced a delay early Monday afternoon.
Two grain wagons full of corn were being pulled by tractor to the elevator when the right front axle on the lead wagon gave way. The wagon tipped, causing grain to spill onto Redwood Avenue, just north of Highway 18, and also into the west ditch. The wagons were separated and the second wagon was pulled to the elevator by pickup.
A grain vac was used to vacuum the corn from the damaged wagon and from the ground into another pair of wagons that were brought to the scene.
No one was hurt in the mishap.
