Two incumbents among the three winning election to Sanborn City Council
Sanborn voters have returned two incumbent council members to office based on unofficial results from the November 7 election. Brian Visser and Aaron Wiekamp were the top vote-getters with 129 and 121 votes respectively.
Joining them on the Sanborn City Council will be Kevin Groendyke. He received 120 votes compared to 117 for Daniel Verrips and 80 for Seth Irmiter.
Sanborn Mayor Randy Lyman was running unopposed for another term in office. He received 185 votes.
Kyle McCarter won re-election to the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn School Board in Director District 4 with 371 votes. No candidate had filed to run in HMS Director District 1 which includes the City of Sanborn and the immediate surrounding area. Kari Van Es received 31 write-in votes and Sally Smith received 12. HMS Superintendent Patrick Carlin said that Van Es does reside within Director District 1 and that he expects that she will be sworn in as that district’s Director.
Adam Besaw was re-elected to his Northwest Iowa Community College Director District V position, garnering 1261 votes.
