Ethan Baker awarded scholarships
Ethan Baker of Melvin is the recipient of several scholarships awarded this fall. He is in the Industrial & Commercial Wiring program at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.
Baker has been awarded the Northwest Iowa Electrical Association Scholarship by the Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation. This is a $500 scholarship given annually. The Northwest Iowa Electrical Association (NIEA) is a trade organization formed to promote high standards of workmanship, provide ongoing learning, and offering networking opportunities to electricians in northwest Iowa. The purpose of the NIEA scholarship is to assist future electricians with the cost of schooling that will prepare them for a career in the electrical industry.
The Emerging Leaders of Osceola County Scholarship has been established to encourage northwest Iowans to pursue an education at Northwest Iowa Community College and to help finance the rising costs of post-secondary education. Baker is this year’s recipient of the $2,000 scholarship. The future of local communities depends on today’s students who will eventually fill various leadership positions within our communities.
Baker and Alekzander Wallace of Cherokee, have been awarded the Ag Processing, Inc. Scholarship by the Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation. Wallace is also an Industrial & Commercial Wiring student at NCC this fall. This is a $1,000 scholarship. Ag Processing, Inc. (AGP) is a farmer-owned cooperative engaged in the procurement, processing, marketing, and transportation of grains and grain products with a soy processing operation in Sheldon. The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage students to pursue careers in the agri-business industry.
