Jerris Bousema
1960-2023
Jerris Roy “Jerry” Bousema passed away and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at the age of 63.
Jerry was born January 24, 1960, in Sheldon, Iowa. He received his education at Western Christian High School and graduated from NITC (Northwest Iowa Technical College) in Sheldon as a diesel mechanic. He worked in the area for several years before relocating to Dallas, Texas for ten years, focusing on operation and repair of heavy equipment. He then moved back to Sanborn, Iowa being employed as a truck driver, and continued doing what he loved best – working on farm equipment.
Being out in the fields and helping friends bring in their crops at harvest time was a true joy for Jerry. He always had a love for animals, and found feeding the squirrels outside his house to be a simple, gratifying pleasure – a trait he shared with his father, Roy Bousema, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his mother, Carol Bousema; his three brothers and their wives: Denny and Veronica, Dave and Barb, Todd and Stacy; and nine nephews and nieces; other relatives and friends.
A Visitation and Remembrance was held December 20 at Sanborn Funeral Home, Sanborn, Iowa.
The Graveside Service was December 21 at East Lawn Cemetery, Sheldon, Iowa with Pastor Brian Dunn officiating.
Pallbearers were Denny Bousema, Dave Bousema, Todd Bousema, Brett Bousema and Tim Zylstra.
Immediately following the Graveside Service a Lunch and Fellowship was held at First Christian Reformed Church, Sheldon, Iowa.
Sanborn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
