Points are scarce for HMS girls in loss to Mustangs

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s basketball girls could have used an early Christmas gift of some points. The Hawks didn’t have nearly enough of them December 19 as they fell 58-26 to George-Little Rock. With the War Eagle Conference loss in the game played at Hartley, HMS falls to 1-3 in the conference and takes a 4-5 record into the Christmas break.
Moriah Otto scored 12 points, but after that it was Kylie Schiphoff, Abby Douma and Frankie Mohni with three apiece, Lindsey Van Es and Eliza Tewes with two each and Gracie Knobloch with one. No other HMS stats were available.
The Mustangs shot 45 percent from the field with 21 buckets in 47 tries. That included going 4-for-17 from beyond the arc. George-Little Rock sank 12 of its 22 free throws. The visitors made 14 steals and blocked three shots while committing 19 turnovers.
