Sanborn Christian School hosts scrimmage with VNU Panthers

The Village Northwest Unlimited Panthers recently played a return engagement at Sanborn Christian School. VNU’s Special Olympics basketball team took the court February 20 to face a team made up of students from the upper grades, both girls and boys.
The competition was spirited through all four quarters. The Sanborn Christian School students in the stands of the gym joined in the fun, cheering on the teams and moving to the music provided during the quarter breaks.
As was the case last year, the event was coordinated by the school’s PE teacher, Nate Schreur, who also works at the Village. Nate moonlighted as the referee for this game. The Panthers have scrimmaged during area college games and a halftime of local high school games. Noted Brian Robyn, Director of Human Resources at VNU, “Special Olympics provides opportunities for the athletes to gain confidence in their physical abilities and to interact with a larger community of supporters.”
