HMS conducts Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2024

The Graduation Ceremony for 54 Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn seniors was held Sunday at the High School Events Center in Hartley.
The HMS High School Band provided a variety of tunes as a Prelude to the Possession of the graduates into the gym.
The Master of Ceremonies was Blake Wendt, high school Principal. After his welcoming remarks, he recognized teacher Steve Waechter, who is retiring after 31 years at HMS. Principal Wendt then introduced the senior speakers who were Valedictorian George Vargas and Salutatorian Adam Schierholz.
The HMS Choir sang sang “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and then came the Senior Slideshow created by the Media Publication Class.
The Seniors were presented by Superintendent Patrick Carlin. Principal Wendt announced the Awarding of Diplomas, and the Diplomas were presented by HMS Board Members, Becky Stoltz and Scott Vollink. Wendt made the Declaration of Graduates and the seniors were instructed to move their tassels from the right to the left side of their caps.
The band then played the Recessional as the graduates retreated to the lobby to receive congratulations.
