Sandra J. “Sandy” Van Roekel, 86, of Sioux City, IA, passed away May 30, 2024. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior, at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Sandy was born on May 18, 1938, in Sanborn, IA to William and Martha (Block) Van Roekel.  She graduated from Sanborn High School with the Class of 1956 and enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. After her discharge she received her LPN Nursing Degree from Western Iowa Tech and she practiced as a nurse in nursing homes and home health care.
Survivors include her children David Van Roekel, Tammie Griffith (Scott), Derrick Van Roekel (Wendy) and Candace Van Roekel; her six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and brothers, Dave (Carol) and Terry and sister Marlene.
