Akron-Westfield has the answer in win over Hawks
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s third-inning run was answered by six from Akron-Westfield in the bottom of the frame and the Westerners went on to get the win over HMS June 3 at Akron. The home team scored in just one other inning, the fifth, to make the final score of the War Eagle Conference softball contest 7-1.
Gracie Knobloch spent all six innings in the pitcher’s circle. She allowed seven hits to match the run total. Only three of the runs were earned as the Hawks were guilty of four errors. Knobloch struck out eight batters while walking three and hitting one.
The five HMS singles came from Knobloch, Eliza Tewes, Natalie Daggett, Delaney Murphy and Frankie Mohni. Kinsey Schirmer and Mohni each drew a walk and Knobloch was hit by a pitch. It was Mohni who scored the Hawks’ run and Knobloch who picked up the RBI.
