HMS goes hitless in loss to Remsen St. Mary’s

Remsen St. Mary’s combined no-hit pitching with a potent offense to hand Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn a 21-2 loss in four innings June 10 at Hartley. The win allowed fourth-ranked St. Mary’s to remain unbeaten in War Eagle Conference baseball play.
St. Mary’s pitchers Daenon Loucks and Hunter Pick each threw two innings. HMS took advantage of some control problems in the fourth. Jack Mastbergen walked, stole second and scored on a wild pitch. Jacob Cates reached base on an error and was later out trying to score on a wild pitch. Lawton Schiphoff and Grant Kunzman drew walks. Ricky Smith grounded out to the pitcher with Schiphoff scoring on the play.
St. Mary’s collected 15 hits and HMS committed a half-dozen errors. Starting pitcher Kunzman walked one batter. Hunter Daggett gave up three walks as did Dominic Tripp. It was Tripp who recorded the only two strikeouts. HMS committed a half-dozen errors.
