Chamber Chat
Was it just me or did January feel like it flew by?
What a “winter” we’ve had. I was starting to think Mother Nature was cutting us a break with the no snow and fall like temperature up until the week of Christmas. And now I think we’ve seen snowflakes at least once a week since. A big THANK YOU goes out to the Primghar Chamber of Commerce for judging this years Christmas Lighting Contest. Our winners were: Leilla & Ken Reitsma, Jessica & Tim Helmers and Sherryl & Wade Tressler. Congratulations to our winners and a thank you to everyone who decorated and brightened our town with some Holiday Joy!
There is still time to turn in your Membership Packets. You can give them to Sally Smith at Sanborn Savings Bank or Stacy Carlin at Family Health Chiropractic or just drop them in the mail to P.O. Box 161. The Chamber is a member driven organization and welcomes your input and your participation. Please contact us via e-mail or on our Facebook site if you have any questions, ideas or concerns that you would like the board to discuss. The Chamber board of directors meets the second Wednesday of each month at noon. Sometimes questions arise as to what the Chamber can do for you but try asking yourself, “What do I do for the Chamber?” We receive phone calls from people who want the name or phone numbers of businesses, or want to know where they can find “this” or who does “that” – and we refer them to YOU. We sell Chamber Dollars and that is money that can only be spent with YOU. We work with families new to town and visitors passing through. So maybe next time instead of asking “What does the Chamber do for me?” ask yourself “How am I involved in the Chamber?” Are you reading the monthly Chamber Chats and e-mails that we send? Do you use our chamber website? Do you attend chamber meetings? Have you brought us items to include in the Welcome Bags for new residents? Have you volunteered to help with chamber events? Have you called the chamber for help or with questions or to tell us how you are growing your business? While none of these things are required for your Chamber membership, they do bring more value to your membership. Remember, your membership dues are an investment in your business, your chamber and in your community. Thank you for your support in 2020 and please let us know what we can do for YOU in 2021.
Our Annual Meeting for this year has been postponed. We are evaluating the times and will be figuring out details to follow.
Until next time….
Sally Smith, Chamber Director
