Hawks boys split with golfers from HLP and Trinity
The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn boys hosted both Harris-Lake Park and Trinity Christian for a War Eagle Conference golf double dual April 26 at Sanborn Golf and Country Club. The Hawks’ 174 total gave them a win over Trinity which shot a team total of 196 but it was not enough to surpass the 165 score turned in by the Wolves.
Hawk coach Mark Japenga commented that “174 is the best we have shot thus far, however, we all feel that we can shoot even better.” He continued, “We are starting to improve our skill sets and really manage our individual games. Our focus and calmness continue to help us improve. Sam shot a great round with a 38 and was medalist. Ben Haack showed great mental toughness having a very tough hole, but staying focused and shooting great golf the rest of the round. Wyatt Borden continues to stay steady and improve with each meet. Nick Bronstand shot super for his first meet and Lucas Kroese and Keith DeBoer are staying steady with their scores and playing solid golf, with great mental toughness and focus.”
