The Farmers Home Administration County Superintendent delivered a government check in the amount of $52,700 Wednesday to Neal Beyer, President of Sanborn Housing Development….Construction will start immediately on the eight unit low cost apartment building to be located on the former Methodist Church grounds on Main Street.
Sanborn Community School graduation was held Friday evening for the Class of 1971…Graduating with highest honors was Nelva Van Wyk, valedictorian; Greg McCarty, salutatorian, and Gail McCarty, Michael Brown, and Darla Jenness honor grads.

The Cravens Agency announced the sale of their insurance agency to Mr. Gary Whidden who plans to more here as soon as housing is available.
Pastor Walter J. Kline of the First Reformed Church has accepted a call to become pastor at Faith Reformed Church at Kankakee, IL.

The Sanborn Chamber of Commerce received a check in the amount of $112.50 from the Sanborn Dinner Date participants to be used for the new Community Center.
The Sanborn Summer Celebration sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce will be held June 6…Cole’s Circus will give two performances at Brady Field.
Michael R. Japenga graduated from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary May 18 with a Masters of Divinity degree.

HMS Commencement exercises were held May 26….Highest honor students were Jennifer Bales, Mark Bracker, Emily Buchholz, Shannon Elgersma, Robin Hasche, Teri Naber, Mark Scharnberg, Todd Schulz, Natalie Storm, Jeremy TenKley, Donna Van Veldhuizen, Jason Van Wyk and Tonya Wegner.
