Hawks capture a game, but the match goes the way of West Sioux
West Sioux had only one hiccup on the way to a 3-1 triumph over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn September 9 at Hawarden. HMS was able to pull out a 26-24 win in game three. Other than that, the Falcons were able to dispatch the visitors by similar game scores of 25-13, 25-15 and 25-14. The loss dropped the Hawks to 0-7 on the season and 0-3 in War Eagle Conference play.
The match featured 40 kills and 18 ace serves by the Falcons. The 26 HMS kills included 10 from Jasmine Lux and six from Kylee Schiphoff. The Hawks got a half-dozen set assists from both Kaley Pearson and Abby Douma with Frankie Mohni adding another five and Emily Mutombo three more.
Elise Haack made three solo blocks and dug up 11 Falcon attacks. Lux, Douma and Abby Kunzman each recorded a pair of block assists. Kaley Pearson finished with 10 digs and Kunzman seven.
HMS was 58-of 67 serving with three ace serves. Pearson served two of the aces and Kunzman the other. Mutombo (5-of-5) was the only Hawk not to miss on a serve.
