The mission of the Little Free Library’s is to inspire a love of reading, build community, and spark creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. The Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization. There are now over 100,000 Little Free Libraries worldwide.
Sanborn’s LFL was initiated by Amy Vander Haag, Book Club teacher at Sanborn Christian School. “I have a deep appreciation for both youth and adult literature, and I spend a significant amount of time reading and studying in preparation for my classes and for pure enjoyment,” said Vander Haag. After the green light from the Mi’Ono Club to build it in their courtyard on Main Street. Amy contacted talented carpenter, Brent Koldenhoven to build the Little Library. Amy gave Lindsey Koldenhoven the paint colors and design, commenting “Lindsey is artistically gifted and brought the library to life!” On an early humid morning, Brad Horstman (Horstman Construction) installed the library in its new home between Grace Church and Queck Law Office. The library was filled with books the next morning and has been seeing a continual exchange of inventory since then. Visit www.facebook.com/littlefreelibrarysanborniowa for updates on our LFL.
